The Silent Sideline – September 13th, 2022

Coiste na nÓg, which runs underage GAA events in Kerry, was due to receive a report about a hurling game which was allegedly abandoned. It’s alleged that the referee walked off a result of verbal abuse he received.

The under-11 hurling match, between Abbeydorney and Ballyduff last Wednesday evening, was allegedly abandoned after 10 minutes by the referee, after he received a barrage of verbal abuse from the sidelines.

Jerry talks to Antonio Mantero, founder of Silent Sideline. The ethos of Silent Sideline is simple: Spectators are asked to enjoy the game without feeling the need to critique aloud what’s happening on the field.
