The Tailor and Ansty by Eric Cross, which was published in 1942, celebrated the wit and conversation of a couple that lived in Gougane Barra. Kilgarvan native Tadhg Buckley and his wife Anastasia were renowned for their humour. Astonishingly, the book was banned because of the couple’s earthy language.
