Yesterday, People Before Profit TD Bríd Smith said legislation should be introduced to ban liquefied natural gas projects. Meanwhile, CEO and chair of New Fortress Energy, the US company which is behind the proposed Shannon LNG terminal on the Tarbert/Ballylongford landbank, Wesley Edens has sent a letter to the Taoiseach and to stakeholders in North Kerry and Clare. He says the project is shovel-ready. Ballylongford councillor Michael Foley and Tony Lowes of Friends of the Irish Environment have opposing views.
