The Assisted Decision-Making Capacity Act 2015 will finally come into effect in April. The act will mean the end of the wards of court system for adults which has been in place since the 19th century. The new legislation intends to help people with mental health and intellectual challenges make their own decisions by providing the necessary supports. Jerry speaks to Áine Flynn who is the first director of the Decision Support Service under the Assisted Decision-Making (Capacity) Act 2015.
