Today Sinn Féin is introducing a motion in the Dail to commit the government to include a national childcare system in the budget. Sinn Féin has calculated that doing so would cut the cost of childcare by one third within one year and by two thirds the subsequent year.
The party says this would slash fees drastically and put money back into parents' pockets. Treasa is joined by Sinn Fein spokesperson on children, Deputy Kathleen Funchion.
