Eric Langler, who’s from Switzerland, has a holiday home in South Kerry. He loves bringing his dog, Lance, to Kerry. However, he’s noticed a stark difference in the provision of facilities which would allow pet owners to dispose of their dogs’ droppings. Eric pays an annual dog tax of €120 in his community in Switzerland. He says it’s worth it for the services he gets as a dog owner. John Ahern agrees with Eric. He spends about half the year in Switzerland and says we should be following their lead.
