Kerry cyclist Gene Mangan, who made history by winning the 1955 Rás Tailteann at just 18, died last week.

The Killorglin man was an extraordinarily gifted cyclist who remained deeply involved in promoting the sport and nurturing talent.

Treasa spoke to Dr Tom Daly is the president of Cycling Ireland, former secretary of Killarney Cycling Club and author of The Rás: The Story of Ireland’s Unique Bike Race.
