An album is being planned on the music of the Blasket Islands, from original recordings dating back to the 1950s, when the islands were inhabited. The project is being undertaken by Rionach Ni hOgain, one of the country's experts on Irish music and the spoken word. All the original musicians have passed but some of their descendants are recording tracks which connect past and present. Aoife Granville, who also has very close connections with the Blasket Islands, and her sister Deirdre will feature on the new album. Aoife and Rionach explain what the project involves:
