The Minister for Education, Kerry Fianna Fáil TD Norma Foley discusses concerns over Ryanair’s intention to operate the Kerry-Dublin route commercially. This means that they won’t avail of the Government PSO subsidy. Tourism and business interests are worried that such a decision brings no long-term security to the route, and that Ryanair may leave if they decide it’s not commercially viable. With rising COVID-19 numbers due to the Delta variant, Jerry also asks the minister about plans to deal with this so that schools may reopen in late August and September.
