On February 24th, Shane Burke, who was originally from Fenit, was found unresponsive in the back of a garda van while being transported to Limerick’s Henry Street Garda Station. He had been arrested while intoxicated.  The 43-year-old died following efforts to resuscitate him.  An autopsy indicates the cause of death was acute alcohol and benzodiazepine intoxication. His sister Jennifer Burke spoke to Treasa Murphy.
