Yesterday, the father of Tralee businessman Nathan McDonnell, who’s charged over the country’s largest-ever crystal meth seizure, offered to stand bail for his son and told the High Court he would put forward €100,000 from his life savings. 44-year-old Mr McDonnell, who previously ran the Ballyseedy Garden Centre in Tralee, has been charged with possession of drugs worth more than €13,000 for sale or supply at the garden centre between October 27th last and February 12th. 41-year-old James Leen of Pilgrim Hill, Kilmorna faces two charges of drug importation at Cork Port on October 16th last and possession of drugs worth €13,000 or more. Mark Lynch outlined yesterday’s proceedings to Treasa Murphy.
