Yesterday University Hospital Kerry apologised to the widow of a young man from Ballymacelligott for deficits and shortcomings of care in his treatment. 37-year-old Liam Duggan died from septicaemia on May 9th, 2017 at Cork University Hospital. His widow Catherine settled her action against the HSE. It was alleged that he had been discharged from UHK prematurely in April 2017 and that there had been a breach of care in a failure to perform a repeated abdominal CT scan to investigate his condition prior to discharge. Catherine’s solicitor is Rachael O’Shaughnessy of HOMS Assist.
