Last week, Sheila Kelly told Jerry how she and her 95-year-old mother wants to find out more about the woman who helped deliver Sheila. Sheila was a breech birth and she and her mother believe that the midwife who delivered her who was known as Nurse Seymour or Miss Seymour saved her life. Listeners got in touch and shared their information. Her full name was Phyllis Seymour, an English woman, who helped deliver hundreds of babies in the Killarney area in the last century. Nurse Seymour died in 1979. Mike Fuller's late father Dr Paddy Fuller worked with Nurse Seymour. Mike told Jerry about his father's life as a GP in rural Kerry in the middle of the last century. Once, he crossed a river on horseback to reach a woman who was about to give birth. On another occasion, he delivered a baby on the side of the road with just a tarpaulin for cover.
