Jerry spoke to Brendan Guilfoyle of MTU Kerry about the conversion of Ireland’s former regional institutes of technology to technological universities (TUs). Munster Technological University was formerly the separate entities of Kerry and Cork Institutes of Technology.
The report by researchers Brendan Guilfoyle and Joan Cleary concludes the change has been a ‘costly waste of money’. The report claims that a promised ‘TU bounce’ has failed to materialise with neither student enrolments nor the number of research students meeting projected levels.
