From Fassbender to Liebherr: Kerry’s German Connections – October 1st, 2021

Last weekend’s general election in Germany prompted us to look at this county’s very strong ties to Europe’s largest economy, which is one of the most powerful in the world. But the ties are much deeper than that. Treasa speaks to Henry Weber whose family opened the Jowika knife company in Listowel in the early 1960s. Henry was supposed to stay a few months when the business opened but didn’t! She also speaks to former HR manager of Liebherr Container Cranes, Tom Foley who has written a book about the multinational which has been in Fossa since 1958. Donal Hickey who is chair of the Muckross House Board of Trustees gives an overview of the links between this county and Germany as a former journalist.
