Dowdall Accused of Lying About Friendship With Jerry McCabe Killer – December 15th, 2022

Frank Greaney is the courts correspondent with Newstalk and has been following the Gerry Hutch trial. Yesterday, Jonathan Dowdall, who is giving evidence on behalf of the prosecution, was accused of lying under oath about his friendship with Pearse McAuley. In 1999, Mr McAuley, a former Provisional IRA man, was convicted of the manslaughter of Detective Garda Jerry McCabe from Ballylongford, who was shot dead during an armed robbery in Adare three years earlier.
