Treasa spoke to Sunniva O’Flynn, Head of Irish Film Programming at the Irish Film Institute about Gael Linn’s Amharc Éireann newsreels from the middle of the last century that have been released. The footage is a snapshot of Irish life in the 1950s and 1960s. Some of these newsreels were filmed in Kerry, and excerpts were played from coverage of the 1959 Listowel Races and the 1962 Rose of Tralee Festival. The Irish language newsreels have been digitised and are available to watch free online: ifiarchiveplayer.ie
