This year has seen the creation of Páirc Náisiúnta na Mara, Ciarraí, Ireland's eighth and newest national park. It’s also the largest national park in the country? Will its creation guarantee that biodiversity is protected? And what about the people who live and work in this designated area of Kerry? Science journalist Olive Heffernan is author of High Seas: Ambition, Power and Greed on the Unclaimed Ocean. Last weekend, she address the Ireland’s Edge conference in Dingle. She also spoke to Treasa Murphy who asked her what was the idea behind her book.
