That’s the view of independent Killarney councillor Niall ‘Botty’ O’Callaghan. He says Integration Minister Roderic O’Gorman should come to the town and meet public representations. The councillor estimates up to 40% of tourism accommodation isn’t available as it’s being used to provide housing for people seeking international protection or refugees. He says there needs to be better communications regarding this type of housing provision, in the wake of last week’s violence at a Killarney hotel, which is being used as a temporary direct provision centre.
