John Corcoran, a republican informer for the Garda Siochána, was murdered in Kerry by the IRA in 1985. No-one has ever been charged for the crime. His Special Branch handler was a detective garda from Fenit, JP O’Sullivan. Now retired, Mr O’Sullivan has written a book Veil of Silence: How the Irish State Covered Up an IRA Murder and Framed a Garda Whistleblower. JP O’Sullivan believes not enough was done to save John Corcoran and wants an inquiry into how senior garda leadership handled the issue. Mr O’Sullivan spoke to Jerry.
