Community Employment Schemes are designed to provide eligible long-term unemployed people and other disadvantaged people with an opportunity to engage in useful work within their communities on a temporary, fixed term basis.
Changes announced earlier in the year include that eligibility would be reduced from 12 months on the live register to nine months for Ukrainian nationals who have fled the war.
Ballylongford councillor Michael Foley has written to the Minister for Social Protection Heather Humphreys and Minister of State Joe O’Brien asking that this reduction to nine months should not just be for Ukrainian nationals, that it should be for everyone.
