Banna Rescue: Search and Rescue Vehicle Damaged; Volunteers Abused – July 15th, 2026

Jerry spoke to Sinn Féin councillor Deirdre Ferris and Brian Crean, secretary for Banna Rescue about the damage done to the Argo search and rescue vehicle at Banna Beach. There was also theft. The Argo vehicle is an amphibious rescue vehicle which allows the Banna Rescue team to traverse the 10km stretch of beach from Ballyheigue to Barrow, crossing the inlets at Akeragh and Poulgorm, resulting in a quicker response. Furthermore, Banna Rescue volunteers have had to deal with verbal abuse when they’ve asked people to move cars that are blocking access for rescue services.
