Another Presidential Pardon for a Kerryman? – December 6th, 2021

Last week it emerged that Cordal man John Twiss who was executed in 1895 is set to receive a Presidential pardon. This followed a lengthy campaign that argued he was not guilty of the murder of a man in Glenlara, Newmarket a year previously. Sinn Féin TD for Kerry, Pa Daly says Charlie Kerins from Tralee who was executed in 1944 was also a victim of a miscarriage of justice. Charlie Kerins, who was believed to be Chief of Staff of the IRA, was hanged for the murder of a garda detective sergeant.
