Fr Michael Toomey, a parish priest in the diocese of Waterford and Lismore, appealed to the Irish Catholic Bishops’ Conference to issue standardised guidelines on funeral eulogies which would apply to every diocese. However, the bishops have ruled this out. Fr Toomey spoke to Jerry.
