This week on Ours to Protect we’re taking a look at an initiative launched in Kerry last Summer to recycle unused musical instruments and loan them through the library service to anyone - young or old who wants to learn to play music.

Did you know?......

The exciting project is being run by Music Generation Kerry in conjunction with the Library Services and the Environment Office of Kerry County Council.

Since the project was launched last Summer donations of harps, trumpets, guitars, fiddles, banjos, drums and much more have been dropped into Killarney, Tralee, Cahersiveen and Listowel libraries.

Music Generation Kerry, an organisation that offers high quality low cost music education throughout the county, reviews the instruments, brings them up to standard and then loans them through the library to anyone who would like to learn to play music..

Getting involved…..

If you have an unused instrument you’d like to donate all you have to do is drop it to your local library.
