Hi Joe and Dominic one of my personal delights is watching sunsets while out for walk and the wild flower is my natural prop in front of the setting sun just fading through the flower. Brendan Kissane

Hello Joe

Here is my photo for your June In Focus programme

Name of Photo

1940s Teachers’ Planning Devices

These items - lesson planning copybook, inkwell with inkwell-stand date from the 1940s and belonged to my mother.  Each week teachers had to have a written account of every lesson they intended to teach.  It was a very serious issue if an inspector visited the school and found a teacher without their written “Scéim Oibre” for the week.

My mother passed away in 1983 but I am delighted that this copybook with her beautiful handwriting has survived though as can be seen the copybook is somewhat tattered. The inkwell stand ensured that the ink did not get spilt and provided a resting place for the pen.

On Sunday evenings she would sit at the table with her pot of tea and write up her “Scéim Oibre” for the week.  I treasure these items and the wonderful memories they evoke.

Last Tuesday, 24th May (late morning/early afternoon) I was taking a walk to Deenagh Lodge, tearooms in the National Park that is run by Down Syndrome Kerry and is staffed by adults who have Down Syndrome, when I came across this beautiful heron.

He's here just enjoying the sun, on this log on the Deenagh River, across the road from St Mary's Cathedral in Killarney.

Morning Joe & Dominic, mFind attached a photo I took in Lanzarote on the 1st January 2022 Regards Deirdre Mangan

Nature at its best, first hours of a cow calving and calf sucking it's mother.

Hi Joe
These are a couple of photos of what give me so much pleasure.
The first is a photo of my dog, Klopp, he’s standing on his hind legs on a chair with his front paws up on the pool table looking across to see what I was doing, I had the phone nearby & took a quick photo. He’s just 2 years old & so cute, funny & great company.
The other photo has Klopp sitting in front of one of my veg plots, the potatoes & cabbage are growing nicely & nothing nicer than watching them grow & then eating your own veg. I spend many an hour tending to my garden & enjoy it.
I always enjoy your show, always interesting & enjoyable.
Best Wishes

Hi Joe and Domnick, Love the show. Apples are my focus for this week.  Healthy , nutritious full of flavour, freshly picked for Joe and Domnick. Thank You, Nora Nelligan, Castleisland.

Buttons are my bag!! This is a fabric bag that is decorated with buttons inherited from my mother and my aunt. Some of them would be considered vintage by now I guess. They would have been originally stored in a used metal biscuit. Many a rainy day was spent poring over buttons of all shapes, sizes and colours. runing through our fingers and planning great designs with them. They were kept in a decent sized, large tin that would have been kept after Christmas when received as present, not the smaller shallow ones that you see in recent years. Similar tins would have been wrapped in greaseproof and brown paper in October and used to make Christmas cakes for ourselves and others

My sister, Sheila Kelly, listens to your programme on a weekly basis and was eager to enter her first competition. She had fully intended to to incude this bag with some other favourite items and aim for a 'nice' photo to include however her house burned down a few weeks ago in the middle of the night and she never got to follow through with her wish.

Its a miracle she woke up in time and had to walk through the fire to get out the door and escape. She is currently in Tralee Hospital being receiving treatment for burns and smoke inhalation. Sadly all her arts, crafts, books and precious memories are destroyed and will live on in memory only.

this is the only photo i have of her button bag and i'm submitting it on her behalf so I can fulfill her wish. Its not staged as nicely as she would have wished but its the only option for now considering the circumstances.

regards Mary Kelly Geoghegan
