Tralee Wetlands transformed into a winter wonderland, blanketed in snow with the pond frozen as the temp was -6c in Tralee over night . Despite a bone-chilling day featuring frost, ice, and lingering fog, much of the country experienced dry, sunny weather. However, Ulster and north Connacht saw scattered showers of rain, sleet, and snow. The day's temperatures remained frigid, ranging from just 1 to 5 degrees, accompanied by a light northwest breeze. Nature's wintry grip painted Tralee Wetlands in serene white, offering a picturesque landscape amidst the challenging weather conditions across different regions of Ireland.

Hi Joe and Dominic,

Attached three images for your out and about walking theme. First is a cropped image of a goldfinch against a clear blue January sky taken unnoticed through car window. Second and third images were taken at wild and wonderful Coumeenole on brilliant cold sunlit January days. One shows setting sun and cliff face with "Devils Horns"in backgrround.Final shot is looking east from beach with a wild blue sky and cloud patterns.

Best regards to you both for 2024

Joe, my wife and I visited your old haunts on Valentia Island this past November. We were hoping we might catch the night sky during the new moon. While we spent a lovely - and blustery! - evening on Geokaun Mountain, the clouds never did quite dissipate. I guess we'll just have to go back again!

My 58th year began on the 14th with a beautiful, sunny day - perfect for a walk on the Bray Head Loop.

The attached photo was taken at the Bray Head Watchtower. It has been cropped and given some light post-production tweaks (I used a Lightroom pre-set), which brought out the blue in the sky and made the Skelligs more visible through the mist. That's what I saw that day through my viewfinder, so I did not feel too bad about "fixing" the final photo and making up for my lack of skill. I'd love it if Domnick could expound on ways to work with the misty, wispy fog one encounters when taking photos in Ireland. I have a lot of "washed out" pictures taken during similar conditions.

(I need to learn fast! I'll be taking a lot more pictures of Ireland when we move there in July/August!)

Keep up the good work! In Focus is like sitting in the pub with a couple of friends, and I look forward to it every month. How often can you say that about radio?
