Kerry Social Farming was recognised at the 2025 Kerry Dairy Ireland Milk Quality and Sustainability Awards in the Woodlands House Hotel in Adare (Tuesday, 12 August 2025). The work of Joe McCrohan and his team, along with milk suppliers, in providing social inclusion opportunities for people with disabilities through farming is highlighted. Supported by Kerry Dairy Ireland, the programme emphasises simplicity and voluntary participation, with participants enjoying tasks, interactions with animals, and the outdoors.
At the awards, Kerry Dairy Ireland CEO, Pat Murphy and Director of AgriBusiness and Sustainability, James O’Connell, praise the organisers and farmers. Programme Coordinator Joe McCrohan explains the initiative, and farmers Catherine Fleming from Muckross and James Barry from Farranfore share their experiences.
Breda Forrest is standing in for our usual presenter, Sari Houlihan.
