Voter turnout in presidential election as high as 16% in parts of Kerry

Voting turnout in today’s presidential election is as high as over 16% in some areas of Kerry.

Three candidates are on today’s ballot paper, to elect the tenth President of Ireland.

Independent candidate Catherine Connolly, Fine Gael’s Heather Humphreys, and Fianna Fáil candidate Jim Gavin are the three names on today’s ballot paper.

That’s despite Jim Gavin officially withdrawing from the presidential election earlier this month.

Turnout in Kerry so far is as high as 16.5% in Killarney this lunchtime.

Around 14.6% of potential voters in Castleisland have cast their vote so far today.

In Killorglin, turnout is around 12.7% so far, and it’s at just under 12% in Tralee.

Around 10% of potential voters have voted in Kilgarvan so far, while the lowest turnout of the towns in Kerry is Cahersiveen at just eight per cent as of this lunchtime.
