The Transport Minister has said he would rather invest the money that could be spent on train catering carts on new transport lines.
Iarnród Eireann signed a contract for catering services last year for the Belfast and Cork lines only, leaving remaining rail lines with no services since they were stopped during the pandemic.
Minister Darragh O'Brien has queried Irish Rail's stated cost of around €2m for bringing back the tea trolley on the rest of the rail services:
