A Tralee student has been praised for her perseverance after winning the top prize at the Strype Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition.
Mercy Mounthawk student Aoibheann Daly has been competing in the competition for several years before winning the top award this year.
Her project GlioScope is designed to help doctors improve the treatment of brain cancer.
In addition to this, two other projects from mercy Mounthawk received awards in the the social and behavioural sciences and the biological and ecological categories.

It's the second year in a row that Kerry has won the top prize in the Young Scientist competition.
Last year sisters Ciara, Saoirse and Laoise Murphy won the BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition for their project called 'Aid Care Treat', a medical assistance app designed to support emergency healthcare response.
In total, Kerry has won nine awards at this year's Stripe Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition.
Students of CBS The Green, Tralee won awards in the the intermediate individual technology and biological and ecological categories, and Brian Enright of St Michael's College, Listowel won third prize in the junior individual technology category.
