A teenager accused of producing two machete knives in an assault of another person in Tralee will seek High Court bail.
The 16-year-old boy, who cannot be named by order of the court, appeared before Tralee District Court via video-link from Obertstown Children Detention Campus.
The teenager faces three charges in relation to an alleged incident at Tralee Community Training Centre in Monavalley Industrial Estate on September 23rd.
It’s alleged that the 16-year-old was in possession of two machete knives while intending to unlawfully cause injury to another person.
He’s accused of assaulting another male at the same location and on the same date, and charged with producing two machete knives during the alleged assault.
The teenager also faces a drugs charge, alleging he had cannabis in his possession in a Tralee housing estate on 18th July.
The boy appeared before Judge David Waters at Tralee District Court via video-link.
Sergeant Chris Manton told the judge that DPP recommendations are not yet available and the state sought a further remand.
The teen’s solicitor, Padraig O’Connell told the court that he has written to the state indicating High Court bail will be sought for his client.
The judge heard that bail was refused at the district court last week, however, Mr O’Connell advised he will be proceeding with the application to the High Court.
Judge Waters further remanded the boy at Oberstown Detention Centre, to appear before Tralee District Court again on October 15th for DPP recommendations.
