The GAA needs to get even more radical in addressing how falling birthrates in rural areas is affecting the traditional parish system.
That’s according to Joe McCrohan who is chair of South Kerry GAA Board, and rural development officer with South Kerry Development Partnership.
He was reacting to a new GAA report to address demographic problems affecting Gaelic games.
It included a pilot programme for Kerry focusing on urban and rural depopulation, and targeted interventions.
Mr McCrohan says while the report is welcome, it has a long way to go.
