A solicitor who represented a Killarney man in a medical negligence claim says the law needs to be changed to allow quicker resolutions in these cases.
Rachael O'Shaughnessy is a partner at HOMS Assist Solicitors which represented Anthony McNabb.
The 59-year-old settled a claim stemming from a delayed cancer diagnosis at Bon Secours Hospital, Tralee.
The six-figure settlement was reached through mediation.
Ms O'Shaughnessy says the current obligation for medical providers to provide open disclosure in such cases is too restrictive.
She says this needs to be changed.
