There are six gardaí and sergeants attached to the Kerry divisional scenes of crime units.
These are specialised units within An Garda Síochána that responds to and investigate crime scenes.
The Minister for Justice Jim O’Callaghan provided the figures following a query from Labour TD Alan Kelly.
Nationally as of the end of June, there were 158 sergeants and gardaí assigned to these units; six of those are in the Kerry Garda Division.
The Louth/Cavan/Monaghan and the Clare/Tipperary Garda divisions both had the highest number of gardaí and sergeants assigned to their units at 10 each.
The Laois/Offaly Garda division had the fewest at five.
The Minister for Justice Jim O’Callaghan says he is assured that Garda management keeps the distribution of resources under continual review in the context of policing priorities and crime trends, to ensure their optimum use.
