Radio Kerry understands a six-figure sum has been seized during raids by the Criminal Assets Bureau as part of an operation being carried out in this county.
A number of raids have been carried out, but it’s understood the operation is ongoing.
It’s understood that a number of raids were carried out early this morning, but the operation is continuing and may extend to over a dozen properties in this county.
Radio Kerry understands both residential and commercial premises were targeted in this operation, and a six-figure sum of cash has been seized.
It’s believed the operation is targeted at premises with alleged links to organised crime.
Radio Kerry understands the raids took place in several locations including in Tralee and rural areas in the county.
CAB was established in 1996, with the aim of denying and depriving criminals of assets acquired through criminal conduct.
The Bureau has the power to freeze and seize assets which it shows to the High Court are the proceeds of criminal conduct, and it’s done on the civil standard of proof.
