The residential vacancy rate in Kerry is above the national average.
That’s according to figures in the GeoDirectory Residential Buildings Report for the second quarter of 2025.
The data, prepared by EY shows nationally, there was a 5.2% increase in residential address points between April and June compared to last year.
The figures show the residential vacancy rate in Kerry at the end of June stood 7%, above the national average of 3.7%.
More than 1,100 residential address points in Kerry were classified as derelict in the second, this represents 5.6% of the national total (of 19,821).
Kerry accounts for 12.2% of holiday homes nationally, with over 4,500 address points.
Meanwhile, Holiday homes account for 6% of the housing stock in Kerry, 7% of the housing stock in the county is listed as vacant, while 87% is occupied.
582 residential address points were added to the Geodirectory database in Kerry in the 12 months to June, a year-on-year decrease of 13.5%.
630 residential buildings were classified as under construction in the county in June 2025.
The report shows over 1,000 (1,021) residential property transactions were completed in Kerry in the 12 months to the end of June, 5.7% of which were for new dwellings.
According to the figures the average property price in the county was €301,567.
Meanwhile, apartments accounted for 3.7% of the total residential stock in the county.
