There are renewed calls for Kerry County Council to provide a permanent structure for the Rose of Tralee Festival.

At the recent Tralee Municipal District meeting, Cllr Jim Finucane said the town needs something to look forward to coming out of the pandemic.

The Fine Gael councillor says it's time for the council to take initiative, and take the lead on the project.

In response to Cllr Finucane's motion, the council says it sought expressions of interest for development at two sites at Fels Point, and this process outlined the potential for the site.

It stated a further procurement process and public engagement will be necessary to advance the proposal.
