Rally of the Lakes course clerk says residents with passes will be escorted to and from homes when safe

The course clerk of the Rally of the Lakes in Killarney this weekend has acknowledged it’s an inconvenience for some people.

However, Dermot Healy says anyone who has been issued with a residents pass will be facilitated either getting out of their homes or getting into them, when it’s safe to do so.

Some residents of Kilcummin are unhappy with the impact of the Assess Ireland Rally of the Lakes on road closures in the area on Saturday, restricting access to and from their homes for around 12 hours.

Dermot Healy says there will be windows where people involved in the rally can escort residents to and from their homes, and anyone with a residents pass will be entitled to this.

He says the motor club has done everything it can to facilitate people living locally.
