Presidential candidate hopeful Gareth Sheridan will be seeking the backing of Kerry County Council to get his name on the ballot.
The presidential election is scheduled to take place at the end of this year.
35-year-old Mr Sheridan is the founder of Nutraband, a US-based pharma company.
The businessman needs the backing of at least four local authorities or twenty Oireachtas members to secure his name on the ballot.
