Portmagee’s 299-year-old New Year’s Eve tradition to draw global crowds

Portmagee’s unique New Year’s Eve tradition known as ‘The Old Year’ is expected to attract large crowds tonight.

Visitors attend from all across the globe including South Africa, the United States, Australia and Europe.

MC on the night, Gary O’Sullivan explains how the “old year” figure, dressed in rags and a mask, represents the outgoing year.
