Over 5,200 (5,221) dog licences were issued in Kerry in the first five months of this year.
That represents a drop more than 9% during the same period last year, when just under 8,000 (7,983) dog licences were issued in the county.
Figures compiled by Kerry County Council, show 11 fines relating to dogs were issued between January and the end of May.

The council also rehomed 31 dogs during this period.
