Ohio Rose says she'll opt out of festival if vaccine is required

The only qualified Rose for the 2022 Rose of Tralee International Festival says if a vaccine is required to take part, she will opt out.

Christine Smyth was selected in 2020 to be the Ohio Rose, but is still waiting to take part due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Rose of Tralee International Festival isn’t being held this year for the second year running.

Christine Smyth says there’s a lot of excitement and she’s really looking forward to coming to Tralee to take part.

However, she says she will opt out of the festival, if a vaccine is required to take part.

She says she has some concerns around the vaccine at this stage:
