Three Kerry towns have no long-term lettings available for properties, yet have hundreds of properties available on Airbnb.
That's according to figures from the ESRI, published in today's Irish Independent.
Dingle, with a population of around 1,600, has no long term lettings available, but has 832 Airbnb properties available in the area.
Similarly, Killarney (14,412) and Listowel (4,794), with no long term rental properties available according to Daft.ie, have 766 and 218 Airbnb properties available, respectively.
Killarney has one of the highest ratios of Airbnbs to public rental sector properties in the country, at 1 to 6.
The report found that 21.3% of listings in Kerry were owned by multi property hosts, with five or more properties.
Between 2019 and 2023, the number of entire unit Airbnb listing in Kerry has risen by 23.4%.
Two-thirds of all Airbnb listings are for entire properties and are concentrated in tourist hotspots along the west coast, as well as inner-city Dublin.
