HSE South West expects the new Killarney Community Nursing Unit to be ready for the next phase of development by the end of this year.
The executive was responding to queries by Radio Kerry concerning continued delays to the project.
The works are part of a Public Private Partnership (PPP) development.
HSE South West has stated that the its national Estates Department continues to work closely with the contractor “to confirm a revised completion date for the construction phase”.
After the anticipated hand-over of the facility towards the end of the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2025, it will be inspected, assessed, kitted-out, and undergo HIQA’s registration process.
The statement continues that, these stages are a legal requirement before any residents can be accepted into the new unit.
However, it reassured the public that the new 130 en-suite bedroom unit will open as soon as possible.
At that point, the HSE will share a more detailed timeline, taking into account the need to liaise with staff, residents, and families.
