A native woodland has been planted on the grounds of a school in Castleisland.
Minister of State with responsibility for forestry, Michael Healy-Rae joined students and staff at Castleisland Community College to plant the woodland.
This was done under the Native Tree Area (NTA) Scheme as part of the department’s flagship Planting on Public Lands Initiative.
Minister of State Michael Healy-Rae praised Castleisland Community College, which is a Kerry ETB school, and says this project shows what can be achieved by any public body willing to take that first step.
Principal of Castleisland Community College, Maireád Corridan says this is a project that reflects their strong commitment to sustainability and biodiversity.
