€55 million will be made available nationally to private forestry owners affected by storms Darragh and Éowyn through a new reconstitution scheme.
Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture with special responsibility for Forestry, and Kerry TD, Michael Healy-Rae made the announcement.
The scheme will provide financial aid to private landowners whose plantations were damaged by the storms.
Minister Healy-Rae said it will help forestry owners replant with either conifer or broadleaf species, or a mixture of both.
Landowners who have already replanted, or are in the process of doing so, are eligible to apply for this scheme retrospectively once they satisfy the qualifying criteria.
Applications will open early next year.
