Met Eireann's new weather radar system at Shannon Airport is now in operation.
The meteorological service says it'll provide more accurate rainfall information.
It uses dual-polarisation technology which enables meteorologists to better distinguish between rain, hail or snow.

It says the new addition will benefit the public, emergency services, and a range of other sectors.
