A man has died after he became ill while on Mount Brandon this afternoon.
Valentia Coast Guard was notified by Tralee gardaí at 1.30pm that a 56-year-old man had collapsed on the peak in West Kerry.
The man had been climbing the Faha route with four others - understood to be family members - when rescue services were notified.
Kerry Mountain Rescue and the Rescue 115 helicopter were tasked but were unable to assist because of poor visibility.
Dingle Coast Guard members found the man with help from ambulance paramedics. He was brought to University Hospital Kerry where a post-mortem will be conducted at a later date.
It's understood that the man's four companions may have developed hypothermia.
