Last night was the first tropical night in Kerry in 20 years.

A tropical night is when air temperature in a shaded area doesn’t drop below 20 degrees Celsius.

Met Eireann says tropical nights are rare in Ireland, with only six recorded in the digital era so far. The lowest temperature recorded in Valentia Observatory last night was 20.5 degrees.
